Kristen Roach is an eternal student of arts and letters. Along the way she has earned a BFA in Art and an MFA in Creative Writing from Eastern Kentucky University. She lives in northern Connecticut with a cat and a Yeti, where she is in recovery from being a wife and a wearer of khaki pants.
Kristen has never recovered from reading the words of Pierre Teilhard de Chardin: “We are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having a human experience.” Rather than attempting, as some art does, to transcend the physical world, Kristen’s work expresses the beauty, tension, and grief brought about by trying to fit the infinite within the finite. She writes from a heart which, despite being rumored to be the center of the body, always seems precariously on the edge, where it sees most clearly the souls pressed against the wall of society’s city limits.
